In “Master in the House” (집사부일체), the butlers singer / actor Lee Seung Gi (이승기), BTOB’s Yook Sungjae (육성재), actor Lee Sang Yoon (이상윤) and comedian Yang Sehyung (양세형) spend an eventful autumn day with actress Lee Young Ae (이영애) at her residence in Yangpyeong where she lives with her 9 year old fraternal twins when they are not in Seoul for school. The veteran actress who has been acting for 29 years is best known abroad for her roles as the leading lady in ”Jewel In The Palace” (대장금) and “Lady Vengeance” (친절한 금자씨). Director Park Chang Wook (박찬욱/박리다매) says of Lee Young Ae: “I chose her as the protagonist from the start. When I was writing the script, I had her in my mind. I wrote the story to fit her. When I sent the script, I expected her to be surprised or show repulsion but in fact, she made an even more intense suggestion. I was surprised by that. In fact, she makes hurtful comments with a smile as if they’re nothing. I bet no one can do that better”. Lee Young Ae agrees that she has a challenging spirit and is up for a shocking change. She does not like to be trapped into a stereotypical role and is constantly looking for roles where she can play someone unfamiliar to her, which is a venue through which she can emit a new kind of energy. As she spent most of her forties as a mother who focused on her children and family, an experience which has enriched her, she believes that she can now add another layer of emotions to her characters. Apart from balancing her family and career, Lee Young Ae likes to spend time in her organic farm where she grows green onions, radishes and about 100 heads of Napa cabbages. The vegetables are harvested without pesticides and the butlers marvel at the large size of the Napa cabbages and radishes, as well as the muscular shape of the green onions which is a sign of its freshness. The vegetables are washed in the cold groundwater and are used as ingredients for dinner where Lee Young Ae prepares an organic feast of cabbage soup, cabbage pancakes and makgeolli rice wine.
The butlers are amused to discover the twins are polar opposites in terms of their personalities and interests. Seungbin enjoys arts and culture and wishes to become a musical actress whereas Seunggwon is knowledgeable about science as he demonstrates in the science quiz. * Driving electric cars can reduce acidic rain as electric cars do not use the natural and chemical gas that causes acidic rain. As Seunggwon explains, gasoline produces toxic gas which can land on the ground and gets washed away by the rain. When the water continues to flow, it will reach the ocean and as the ocean water gets evaporated, it comes down again as acidic rain.
* Octopuses have three hearts, two of which pump blood to the grills and the legs while the other delivers oxygen across the whole body.
