Lee Jangwoo - I Live Alone

Actor Lee Jangwoo (이장우) who is best known for his roles in the television series "Glory Jane", "I Do, I Do" and "My Only One", makes an appearance in "I Live Alone" (나 혼자 산다). Despite his roles as a leading man in romance dramas, in real life he is a manly man as shown in his preference for bold furnishings and penchant for tigers and military style clothes. In order to remain in shape, there is a gym in his house as Lee Jangwoo explains: "Our job is actually a battle with exercising and staying in shape. It's inseparable. I gain weight easily and used to weigh over 100kg. It was hard to lose weight and maintain it around 70kg. I ate an apple and nothing else all day for six months once. I was unhappy. I love to eat, and I eat a lot. If I want to keep this career, I realised I should eat to a certain amount to be happy. That's why I made a gym at home and I work out whenever I can. I lift around 110kg". Lee Jangwoo's main hobby is cooking, especially for others. Seeing other people enjoy his food gives him happiness and makes him want to spend all his money cooking for that person. He regards cooking as a science as one needs to know how proteins and fats work and how they are disassembled. His signature dish of jokbal with rice impressed his friends who were surprised that Lee Jangwoo could extract such a deep flavour after boiling the jokbal for only 30 minutes. However, he confessed his secret recipe involves using a black herbal tea instead of numerous medicinal herbs when boiling the jokbal to remove the gamey smell, as well coca cola and pear juice instead of water and sugar and fruits to add some sweetness. He also used an assortment of condiments and powders from his cabinet for some extra flavour. According to Lee Jangwoo's logic of using powder extracts instead of the actual food is: "People who live alone don't really have time to follow all the proper steps. I can't mince beef and all that jazz, so I choose to use powder instead. My guests all enjoyed it a lot. My friend said it himself, he feels happiest when he eats. I can make my friends happy."
